Kettering Arts Council Spotlight: Alexis Ignatiou

alexis ignatiouAfter his honorable discharge from the Cypriot National Guard, Alexis Ignatiou moved to the United States in 1997 where he studied music and arts administration. He is married to oboist Connie Ignatiou of the Dayton Philharmonic, and has a four year old son. The Ignatiou family moved from Cincinnati to Kettering in 2014.

In May 2018, Alexis will be graduating from the Kettering Leadership Academy, a nine-month program that prepares residents for community leadership roles. Alexis is a member volunteer with the Kettering Arts Council, and the Kettering Sister Cities Committee. Through this capacity, he will be travelling to Kettering, England in June 2018 as a cultural liaison for a series of meetings meant to revitalize the relationship between the two sister cities. Alexis earned his Bachelor of Music from Eastern Illinois University, and Master of Music from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.
