Kettering’s Go 4th! is almost here! We caught up with this year’s emcee, media guru Jim Bucher or “Buch” as he’s known around the Miami Valley. We’re excited to have him return to the Go 4th! stage this year. Read on to find out why Buch thinks Go 4th! is a great community event.
You’ve emceed for Go 4th before – what have you enjoyed most about the experience?
What I enjoy most is that Go 4th! brings back a lot of memories from when I was a kid, when we’d celebrate the 4th of July and go to the park. [The event] is nice because it has that great community feeling – your friends, your neighbors, people come not just from Kettering, but from all over.
It really gives you a great feeling and a patriotic feeling, too. Everyone’s out to have fun and enjoy great music and fireworks. It’s a wonderful hometown event.
What are you looking forward to most for this year’s event?
I’m a big fireworks guy – I will travel everywhere and anywhere to look at fireworks. Kettering has a nice show, about 30 minutes long, and I never get tired of watching and experiencing fireworks. I still get goosebumps thinking about the meaning of patriotism and the founding of our country.
I’m also really looking forward to introducing Mayor Patterson this year – he lives and breathes Kettering, Ohio!
Thanks to our 2018 event sponsors!
