Today’s National Park & Recreation Month featured staff member is Parks Service Worker Nick Zaccaria. Nick was nominated for this feature by Parks Superintendent, Gary Schussler, who said, “Nick is a newer employee and one who switched careers when he moved to Ohio to the park industry about two and a half years ago. He manages the crew that maintains our medians throughout Kettering, which many people don’t realize is under our roof. We have not only 26+ miles of grass to maintain, but Nick manages all the trees located within the medians. The medians contain many of our over 7,500 trees! He has a background in Natural Resource Management and Aquatic Biology. He past career was in raising fish for consumption, but also for stocking habitats. He’s been a great addition both professionally and personally in our area and is a very interesting guy.”
Nick enjoys working in our Parks Division. He said, “I’m very grateful to have found a career field in which I can have both instant gratification for a task being accomplished, as well as the dedication required and the satisfaction of working toward a greater goal, which may take years to achieve.”
Thanks for all your hard work, Nick!
