This week’s aquatics spotlight shines on Tom McManus, a devoted member of our Kettering Recreation Complex community since 2010!
After retiring from Civil Service with the Department of Defense in 2009, Tom moved from California to Kettering to be closer to family. He quickly made our aquatic center part of his regular routine, visiting three times weekly.
Despite facing challenges with limited mobility and arthritis, Tom has found that regular swimming helps him stay limber and manage his condition. As he puts it, “My arthritic condition worsens when I don’t come swim.”
Tom’s goals are straightforward but meaningful—maintaining a healthy weight, staying flexible, and enjoying the social connections he’s formed at the pool. In fact, his visits to our aquatic center are his primary weekly activity!
We’re especially proud that Tom appreciates our staff, noting: “The lifeguards are very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the facilities and the fees are very reasonable.”
Thank you for being such a dedicated member of our aquatic family, Tom! You’re an inspiration to us all!
