The Yard Debris Center, A Unique Kettering Feature!

Posted on April 15, 2024

Attention, Kettering residents! Are you ready to turn your yard debris into something amazing?
For this edition of Features Unique to Kettering, we’re highlighting the Kettering YDC (Yard Debris Center) – a free and eco-friendly facility that transforms your brush, limbs, and trimmings into nutrient-rich mulch for our beautiful city!
Here’s how it works:
Gather your yard debris (up to 6 feet long and 4 inches in diameter) and head over to the YDC at 1840 Woodman Center Drive. It’s open Monday-Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (winter hours are Saturdays only, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
Drop off your accepted yard debris (no grass clippings, root balls, stumps, thatch, sod, dirt, rocks, concrete, or construction materials, please!).
Watch as your yard waste embarks on a journey to the Leaf Farm at 1801 Spaulding Road, where the magic happens!
Our dedicated Street Department team will grind and turn your debris into high-quality mulch, which will then be available for FREE to Kettering citizens at Indian Riffle Park, starting in April!
Not only will you get your hands on some fantastic sustainable mulch, but you’ll also be contributing to the beautification of our city’s parks. Over 500 yards of mulch are used yearly to enhance our green spaces!
Join us in this incredible circular process and experience the joy of turning your yard debris into a valuable resource for our community. Together, we can create a greener, more sustainable Kettering!
Let’s make Kettering even more beautiful, one branch at a time! 🌳🌿
