Our final staff feature for National Park & Recreation Month spotlights Joy Becker, who works at the Kettering Recreation Complex. She was nominated by KRC facility manager, Chris George, who said: “Joy has been here for 29 years helping us serve our patrons. Over the last few weeks before Joy came back, we would get questions every day from our patrons about when they would get to see Joy again. For a lot of people, coming to the KRC has become a routine, and its clear that getting to see Joy’s smiling face at the check-in desk is just as much a part of that routine as walking on the track or using the fitness room.”
Joy loves the sense of community that working at the KRC brings. She wrote: “Why I enjoy working at Checkpoint is the interaction with people. That was the part I missed the most during the shutdown. The patrons become family. I’ve attended weddings and funerals for patrons that are part of the KRC family. Since I have been back to work, I have tried to reach out to some of the regular patrons and let them know that we are back open and can help them understand the new safety guidelines. Every day, I see a familiar face.”
Thanks for all you do to help our patrons, Joy!
