Tobacco Free Parks and Facilities

Kettering residents and visitors can enjoy a tobacco free environment in most of the parks areas and facilities owned and managed by the Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department (PRCA).

PRCA has designated Tobacco Free Zones in all City parks and facilities. The primary reason for creating these zones is to reduce exposure of secondhand smoke to children. The Surgeon General has concluded that there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke. The negative health consequences associated with exposure to secondhand smoke can be detrimental to children’s health. Tobacco Free Zones in parks and around park facilities send a message to youth that being tobacco free is consistent with a healthy environment and lifestyle.
