Rosewood Gallery features four group exhibitions per year: Dayton Area Works on Paper in January; The View Juried Landscape Exhibition in May/June; HWD (Height x Width x Depth) Sculpture Exhibition in the fall; and Art Ed: An Art Educators' Exhibition in December. Learn how to participate here.

Works on Paper is a juried exhibition for artists living within a 40-mile radius of Dayton, Ohio (this excludes Columbus and Cincinnati), working in or on paper. This includes, but is not limited to photos, prints, painting or drawings on paper, cast paper, paper mache, cardboard, etc.

2018 JUROR:

 

lisa morisetteLisa Morrisette is the Senior Manager of School and Docent Programs at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati. Morrisette received her BA in Art History and Art Education and a MA in Art History from the University of Oregon.  Lisa has taught at Wright State University, Denison University, and at the University of Pittsburgh. She has been a museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. Her scholarship is in Asian art with a strong interest in modern art and textiles. Morrisette is also a would-be ceramic sculptor.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

Jurying will take place from actual work. Pieces must be labeled with the tags provided, stating artist’s name and artwork title and corresponding to the entry form. Artists must drop off entries at Rosewood Gallery during the designated drop-off dates and times as listed on the reverse side of this prospectus. A non-refundable entry fee of $20 for up to three pieces must accompany each entry form. Multiple entries are permitted, and should include an additional entry form and fee. Please make checks payable to City of Kettering or make credit card payment over the phone by calling Rosewood Arts Centre at (937) 296-0294.

Upon delivery, all 2-D work must be labeled, framed, wired, and ready to hang; all 3-D work must be labeled and ready to display (indicate display method: pedestal, floor, hang from ceiling, etc.). The gallery coordinator reserves the right to reject any work not prepared in a sound manner for hanging, or otherwise unpresentable for display. Submissions must include a completed entry form and $20 entry fee at the time of drop-off.

RECEPTION

Sunday, January 20, 2 – 4pm

Free and open to the public. Awards presented at 3pm.

AWARDS AND SALES

Awards totaling $1100 will be distributed at the discretion of the juror. In addition, a People’s Choice Award of $150 will be awarded by the Joan W. McCoy Memorial Art Fund through the Kettering Parks Foundation. Rosewood Gallery encourages sales, for which the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, sponsor for Rosewood Gallery, retains a 30% commission.

LIABILITY

Every precaution is taken in handling exhibiting artwork. All work is insured during the installation process and while the work is on display. The gallery coordinator reserves the right to reject work if it violates any conditions set forth in this prospectus or is unsafe to display for any reason. Rosewood Arts Centre and Rosewood Gallery are not responsible for damage from faulty hanging systems provided by the artist. Artists are encouraged to use frame corners or other protective devices during drop-off/ pickup. By submitting my entry, I confirm that I have read and agreed to be bound by the Rosewood Gallery Group Exhibition Agreement, as listed at playkettering.org/gallery or at Rosewood Arts Centre front office.

AGREEMENT

The View is a juried exhibition created by Rosewood Gallery as a showcase for Ohio artists presenting traditional or abstract views of landscape or land imagery, environmental themes and world issues.

Entries must be original works in any media (2-D or 3-D), completed within the last four years. Jurying will take place from digital images. Work previously exhibited at Rosewood is not eligible. Completed entries (entry form, digital images, and non-refundable entry fee of $20 for up to 3 works), will be accepted via CallForEntry.org through April 19, 2019.   Please check back for the prospectus.

JUROR:  Jack Mann

jack mannBorn and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jack Mann received his B.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning with a major in painting and design and a minor in Art History.  Mann also received an M.A. in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati.  He has studied for his Master of Fine Arts at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois in Sculpture. Mann has had extensive teaching experience including: teaching at Southern Illinois University; University of Cincinnati; Columbus College of Art and Design; and Wittenberg University where he has taught since 1976, Professor Emeritus.

Mann’s creative interests include drawing, painting, and sculpture. His work is in many public and private collections.

HWD, or Height x Width x Depth, is a juried exhibition celebrating three-dimensional artwork by artists from Ohio and surrounding states.  Established in 2007, HWD is the region’s only gallery exhibition focused exclusively on sculpture.

  • All types of three-dimensional media are accepted including wood, fiber, stone, metal, glass and mixed media
  • Artwork must be able to fit through the 79 x 34 inch gallery entryway

  • Artists must be residents of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania or West Virginia

Established in 2011, Art Ed is dedicated to celebrating artwork created by the region’s art educators. Rosewood Gallery has announced a call for entries for this exhibition! Please check back for the application form.

REQUIRED:

Submissions constitute an agreement on the part of the entrant to all conditions set forth in the Rosewood Gallery Group Exhibition Agreement.

ELIGIBILITY

All media accepted. Entrants must be professionally teaching art in the Dayton area during the exhibition dates. Work must have been made in the last ten years and be able to fit through the 34”x79” doorway.

ENTRIES DUE

Deadline for digital files of Entries will be accepted through Friday, September 27, 11:59pm.  These files are used for publicity purposes.  Please send files to: paula.kraus@ketteringoh.org.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

There is no fee for entering and no jury process. Eligible artists may submit one piece for exhibition. Entries should include one digital image of the work submitted along with a completed entry form (in digital format or hard copy). Files should be in JPG format and be named as follows: LastnameArtEd.jpg. Entry forms and images may be sent via email to paula.kraus@ketteringoh.org or mailed to Paula Kraus, Gallery Coordinator, 2655 Olson Dr., Kettering, OH 45420.

DROP OFF ARTWORK

All submitted works should be hand-delivered Saturday, October 5, 10am – 3pm or Monday, October 4, 4 – 8pm. Works must be delivered and retrieved during designated pickup times. Artists may delegate representatives to drop off/pick up work in their absence only with advance notice to the gallery coordinator.

ARTIST RECEPTION

Sunday, October 20, 2-4 p.m.

PICK UP ARTWORK

Hand-delivered works can be picked up after the exhibition on Saturday, November 16, 10am – 3pm or Monday, November 18, 4 – 8pm. Works must be picked up in person unless artist has made prepaid shipping arrangements with the Gallery Coordinator. Rosewood Gallery will not be responsible for artwork remaining on the premises more than 30 days after the designated pickup dates.

AWARDS AND SALES

Three People’s Choice Awards, each $100, will be selected by gallery guests and will be announced at the conclusion of the exhibition. Rosewood Gallery encourages sales, for which the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department retains a 30% commission.
